Lovin' The Weekend Blog Hop

Welcome to Lovin' The Weekend Blog Hops with your co-hosts:
Karen from Tots and Me, Rena from An Ordinary Housewife and Angie from Snack Cups and Smiles.

Thank you to every one who has stopped by, whether this is your first visit or you have been a faithful ongoing participant!

Please make sure to welcome our new co-host and visit her blog.
I'm sure she'd love to meet you!

We would love for you to stop by each of the co-hosts and follow us, then feel free to add your links to any or all of the following linkies.

We also randomly choose a Featured host each week from the Lovin' The Readers linky. This week, we are once again without a Featured Host as I have yet to hear back from her. I hope to have a Featured Host next week.

Don't forget to link up to the Lovin' the Readers Hop if you would like a chance to be a Featured host next week. Please comment with a way to contact you, especially if there is not an obvious way mentioned on your blog. We would love to include a little write up about you and your blog in the next week's Lovin' The Weekend Blog Hop post, including a link to your blog. And you will get to include the linky codes on your blog. Sound fun? We're looking forward to getting to know our readers better.

Here's how this blog hop works. We would appreciate it if you would follow Tots and Me, An Ordinary Housewife and Snack Cups and Smiles. If you no longer have GFC please follow in some other way. After that there are three different linkies you can link to. Whichever one you choose to link to, please grab that button and share it on your blog (the codes are on Tot's and Me's sidebar). We'd love it if you could tweet or in some other way share about this blog hop, the more people who know about it, the more potential visitors and new followers of your blog. We'd love to meet some new friends this weekend.

Some people are more interested in just increasing their numbers, while others really want people who appreciate their blog and want to keep up with their posts. So, there are two separate blog hop linkies.

The third linky is for you to link up your giveaways.

If you are interested in increasing the number of followers to your blog via GFC, Linky Followers, email, Twitter, Facebook or Google+ link up here. We will follow you back if you follow us (just note which one you are linking to):

Easy Homemade Birthday Card

I've been making homemade cards lately and thought I would share
this cute birthday card I made for my niece.

I used card stock and decorative paper.
Some double-sided sticky tape, glue stick, ribbon,
hole punch and scissors.

I decided on the card stock I was going to use and then I cut strips
from 3 different birthday papers.

Easy Homemade Birthday Card

I used sticky tape to put the strips on the front of the card.

Then I drew a tag and cut it out.

I tied a piece of ribbon around the front face of the card.

After writing "Happy Birthday" on the tag, I tied it to the ribbon and made a bow.

On the inside of the card, I added a few small pieces of washi tape
just to make sure the ribbon stayed secure.

Since I was sending this card to my niece who lives 4 hours away,
I thought it would be cute to cut small pieces of the birthday papers
so that I had 3 pieces of paper with a present, balloons and cupcakes.
Kinda like a birthday party in a card!

Now all that's left to do is personalize the inside of the card
with a personal message to the recipient.

(Ummm, just ignore that box of Krispy Kreme donuts in the background,
no one was supposed to see those! Ooops!)

Super easy and lots of fun!
You can do this style of card for any occasion too.

Happy crafting!

My Crazy Week! - TTT

It has been a crazy week!
I'm getting exhausted just thinking about it.
Usually it takes a lot to stress me out but this past week I
have really been stressed. I mean really stressed. To the point
of tears! But hey, it's good to cry every now and then, releases all of
those emotions. And I'm not the least bit ashamed to admit I cried.
I'm human and humans cry sometimes.
So, to make things all better, I ate 4 fun size Butterfinger candy bars!
Yes 4! I know, terrible!

Anyhoo......
Grandboy got a new pup and she is a ton of work.
But at least she is going to the door to let us know she needs out.
She also seems to always tangle herself in her leash. Irritating!
But she's so darn cute. Her name is Mya....

Grandboy is on summer break now and I may
very well be ready for the psych ward before school starts back.
I kid I kid. Well, just a little.
Actually I am looking forward to spending some time
with him. Playing outside in the sunshine and doing
a few projects together.

We made wasp/bee traps together yesterday.
And before someone gets upset about that....
I'm all for bee's, as long as they stay out of my personal space.
I'm allergic to bees and I would rather not get stung
so if they can't find their way to my blackberry bush up
in the "big dirt", then hopefully they will find their way to the sugar water trap!
I make no apologies about it. It's either my life or theirs.
And I prefer mine.

Now if you're wondering what the "big dirt" is....
when we first moved to our new house almost 2 years ago, there wasn't
much grass in the front part of our land. We have 1 1/2 acres and our house
is 300 feet off the road and shielded by a line of trees so
you can't see our house from the road.
But grandboy wanted to play in dirt and he called that area the "big dirt"
and that's what we've called it ever since.
Because ya know, it was a big area of dirt.
Smart boy!

There was something really funny that I was going to share with you but
I have forgotten what it was. I need to start writing these things down!
It's a sad thing when your memory starts to go!

Here's to having a better week!

Patriotic Mesh Ribbon Wreath

I'm sure most of you have seen the beautiful curly deco mesh wreath
on Pinterest. It originated from Miss Kopy Kat and she has a great
tutorial on how to make this wreath.
I knew as soon as I saw it, I was going to make one.
I love it! It is so cute and sassy.

Patriotic Mesh Ribbon Wreath

I decided to make a red, white and blue wreath for summer and July 4th.
So I went to Joann's to get my supplies with the gift card that
my daughter got me for Mothers Day.
I bought a metal wreath form, red white & blue mesh ribbon, pipe
cleaners and a strand of battery powered lights.

wreath making supplies

I bought the shorter mesh ribbon instead of the long and it worked just as well.

I started by cutting the ribbon in pieces.

mesh ribbon

Lots of pieces! Probably about 25-30 per color.

Then roll the individual pieces up.
I secured mine with a clothes pin while I was rolling
up the other 2 colors. Then I twisted a pipe cleaner around the
middle of all 3 pieces.

Then I stuck the remaining pipe cleaner through the wreath frame
and pulling it tightly, I wrapped it round the frame.

I kept adding the ribbon rolls, pushing them together,
until the wreath was full.

Then I added the strand of battery powered lights. You can
hardly see them in the photo but it will look pretty at night.

We have an eave on the front of the house above the
front door and I think we will hang it there.
I love this and I'm so pleased with how it turned out.
The hardest part for me was cutting all the pieces of ribbon.

This is perfect for July 4th!

Happy crafting!
